How to set up the Huawei FusionSolar app
Short answer: Download FusionSolar, register your owner account through the invitation your installer sends, and log in. If the plant shows as offline, the inverter's Smart Dongle needs to be connected to your Wi-Fi again. It must be 2.4 GHz, and the signal has to reach the inverter.
FusionSolar is Huawei's own app and web portal for solar systems with SUN2000 inverters, LUNA2000 batteries and accessories. It is where you see production, consumption, battery state of charge and any alarms. This guide follows Huawei's official documentation and is written for you as the owner, not as an installer.
What you need
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| A smartphone with the FusionSolar app | The app is free in the App Store and Google Play |
| The invitation email from your installer | In Huawei's flow for most markets, the installer invites the owner |
| 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with WPA/WPA2 | Huawei requires 802.11 b/g/n on 2.4 GHz |
| Access to the inverter | You need to scan the QR code on the label |
Huawei also notes that public networks with a login page, such as in airports and hotels, cannot be used.
Step 1: Get the app and find the invitation
- Search for "FusionSolar" in the App Store or Google Play and install the app from Huawei.
- Find the email from your installer. According to Huawei's guide for markets outside China, Japan and Australia, the installer sends a registration invitation once the plant has been created.
- If you cannot find it, check your spam folder. If it is not there, ask the installer to send it again. The plant must exist before an invitation can be sent.
Step 2: Register your owner account
- Open the link in the email and complete the registration.
- Choose a password you will remember and store it safely.
- Once the account exists, Huawei says you can log in to both the app and the FusionSolar web portal with the same username and password.
Step 3: Log in and check that the plant is online
Log in to the app. The home screen should show your plant with current power and today's production. If the plant shows as offline, or there are no figures, continue to step 4.
Step 4: Reconnect the Smart Dongle to your Wi-Fi
This is typically needed after a new router or a changed Wi-Fi password. Huawei's flow looks like this:
- Stand close to the inverter with your phone.
- In the app, choose Device Commissioning and scan the QR code on the inverter or Smart Dongle.
- Your phone connects to the device's own Wi-Fi. The initial password is on the label. On some discontinued models it is Changeme.
- If your phone asks "This Wi-Fi network has no internet access. Connect anyway?", tap yes. Otherwise you cannot log in, Huawei says.
- Log in to the local screen. On first login the owner sets their own password, as prompted.
- Under Quick Settings, select your home network and enter its password.
- Wait a few minutes and check the indicator on the Smart Dongle.
Note: if the inverter has built-in Wi-Fi, the Smart Dongle's Wi-Fi is disabled by default. It can be enabled in the app under the device's O&M authorization. If you are unsure, contact us before changing settings.
What does the Smart Dongle indicator mean?
Huawei's quick guide describes the indicator like this (selection):
| Indicator | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Steady green | Connected to the management system. Data is being sent. |
| Green, blinking slowly for more than 30 seconds | Incorrect management system settings |
| Red, blinking fast | The dongle is faulty and must be replaced |
| Alternating red and green, slowly | No communication with the inverter |
For alternating red and green, Huawei recommends unplugging the dongle, plugging it back in and checking that it matches the inverter.
Step 5: Get to know the home screen
Once data comes in, spend five minutes understanding the screen:
- Production: power right now (kW) and energy today (kWh).
- Consumption and grid: how much you use, and how much goes to or comes from the grid. This requires an installed power meter (Smart Power Sensor).
- Battery: state of charge in percent and whether it is charging or discharging.
- Alarms: active and past alarms with Huawei's explanation. See Huawei inverter alarm codes explained.
Take a screenshot on a sunny day and on a grey day. That gives you a baseline if the figures look wrong later. Our guide How to read your solar production data explains what to look for.
Why staying online matters
It is not only about seeing numbers. According to Huawei's warranty terms, LUNA2000 batteries must be connected to FusionSolar so firmware can be updated. For the LUNA2000-S1, the extended part of the warranty lapses if the battery is not connected after commissioning or has been disconnected for more than six months.
Common problems
- No invitation: the installer has not created the plant or used the wrong email.
- Cannot see the router: the router only broadcasts on 5 GHz, or the signal is too weak at the inverter.
- Connects, but no data: check the dongle indicator and the table above.
- Forgotten password: use "Forgot password" on the login screen.
Lost contact with your installer?
It happens that the installer has closed or does not reply. Getting access can then be hard, because the plant sits under the installer's account. Contact us and we will look at your options with you. See our packages and FAQ.

FAQ
Can I create my own plant in FusionSolar?
In Huawei's documented flow for most markets, the installer creates the plant and sends you an invitation by email. Once you register through the invitation, you can log in to the app and the FusionSolar web portal with the same username and password.
Does FusionSolar work with 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
No. Huawei states that the router must support WLAN 802.11 b/g/n on 2.4 GHz and that the signal must reach the inverter. WPA, WPA2 or WPA/WPA2 is recommended as encryption.
What is the password for the inverter's own Wi-Fi?
The initial password is printed on the label on the device. On some discontinued models the original Wi-Fi password is Changeme, according to Huawei.
How long before data appears in the app?
When the Smart Dongle indicator is steady green, Huawei says it is connected to the management system and sending data. If it is not steady green after a few minutes, check the indicator table in this guide.
